What's possible is ignorance toward what you believe.

And you can believe wrong things that you don't even know you believe in.

But belief ultimately is a type of attunement.

Where you say the relation I have is clear.

Even if you disbelieve, that doesn't mele mean the relation isn't there anymore.

It means you've lost sight of it and you're no longer attuned to it.

You know who agrees with me is Karl Marx.

when he writes about the fetishism of commodities.

When you go to the store and you buy some Pop Tarts, you believe in something, okay?

You're pretending somehow that this amount of money

Is the equivalent of this good, this consumer good you're buying, right?

That's an article of faith, that's belief.

When Marx talks about the fetishism of commodities,

You have co social relations, like concrete relations between human beings, how we organize labor, how we coordinate within a wider division of labor, transmitting information across the social body to coordinate in unison, to realize the mode of production.

The commodity becomes a fetish

which contains

these relations and signifies them.

And everyone just believes this is the case, right?

So in the exchange of commodities and so on and so on, what's really happening is

A concrete form of social intercourse that is being mediated through the fetishistic form of money, for example, right?

And that doesn't depend upon you being attuned to your belief, but the relation that structures and underlies belief is still there.

It's still suspended in the in the process, in the act.

So

Most belief is that you're believing through your actions.

You don't have to believe it in your head, but your actions speak for themselves.

So, real belief is about attunement between whether what's going on in your head actually resonates with what you're doing in practice, right?

And so that's what it's about.

So belief is unavoidable.
