started thinking about these things and considering how it might harm people and potentially hurt

them and in their feelings in some kind of way.

I'm left with only one conclusion, and I wanted to open up the stream talking about it. I wanted an opportunity to kind of just come clean about being able to talk about what I said.

And my sincere and honest reflection of the words that I said that if you're a

redditor, you should kill yourself, is that you really should. You really should, though.

You really should.

I thought about it a lot. It's not like I didn't think about it. Oh, it was the heat of the moment.

But I did think about it. And I was like, well, you're kind of a net negative on humanity, to be honest.

if this is the path you insist on going on,

was he's vaguely remembered as the guy who

wanted markets in Russia so people just

close the book on the fact that this is a guy who was open to a market economy

in the context of the USSR or Russia, and therefore,

you know, China is fulfilling Bucharan's theory as opposed to Stalin's.

And the thing that makes me disgusted by this is that these people don't understand the difference between politics and economics. They don't understand that what was at stake in the USSR wasn't about whether markets should be permitted to exist, but the political implications of that. Okay? So in the USSR in the 20s, in the early

period, you had an issue where a very strong centralized Soviet state with socialist and Soviet institutions

consolidated in the centers, you know, in the urban centers and in the urban core.

That was the site of the state dictatorship, okay?

And that was the place where the actual Soviet power was functionally making decisions and ruling over the country.

Now, the peasants were still on the periphery.

They were mainly outside of this strong, centralized proletarian dictatorship, so to speak, right?

Which, by the way, was pretty bereft of

proletarians because most of them had died during the Civil War, right? A lot of people don't know that.

So, please, let's not talk about the NEP. You're triggering the fuck out of me.

Like, no Cuba's not undergoing the NEP.

This is, you can't fucking compare these completely different scenarios.

This is exactly what I'm fucking talking about.

It is so fucking lazy.

It is so devoid of any curiosity.

Now, what was going on was that the peasant economy basically still had patterns and

habits that were a combination of older agrarian practices that immediately followed the abolition of serfdom, as well as the Stolipin reforms.

So there was a peasant civil society, so to speak, where there were no institutions whatsoever, except the ones that were created under the Tsar that had become

immersed into civil society. And there was a massive disconnection between the central

Soviet power and what was going on in the countryside, right?

Peasants did not participate in the state dictatorship in any kind of way.

They didn't participate in the process of socialist construction.

All of that was happening directly at the site of state power.

Moscow, you know, Leningrad, the exact capitals from which Soviet rule was being projected outward, right?

So there were political implications of the right deviation and the left deviation.

And what they had in common was that they wanted to exclude the peasants from the process of socialist construction and proletarian dictatorship. Why? Because they regarded the peasants as too backward.

Okay. So Trotsky's line is very well known. If you don't know what it is, Trotsky

basically thought Bolsheviks had to hunker down in these urbanoid citadels of power and control,

where all the industry was, where all the like urban techniques and special you know specialists were and there was some

proletarians i guess that remained after the civil war trotsky would you know overinflate that

and that they need to exercise this really you, strict dictatorship over these barbaric peasants surrounding the center who could not be trusted in any kind of way, who were inherently regarded as reactionary, backward, and capable of dragging the USSR and Russia back into the pre-revolutionary

period, right? So Trotsky wanted this urbanoid Benjamin Netanyahu style dictatorship over like the 90%

Russian peasant

majority. It's like he wanted to

turn the urban centers into Israel

and he wanted to turn the majority

of Russians into Palestinians.

Hate to be anti-Semitic, but these are the facts.

Now, Bukharin was the same thing, but he just had a different strategy to handle what he

accepted was the same issue.

Bukharan said, we're going to stay here in our hunkered down isolated urban centers

with our socialist institutions

with our old Bolsheviks

with our glasses wearing gatekeepers

and over there we're going

to compromise with the peasants

by letting the coolocks get fat

and do whatever the fuck they want let the peasants. By letting the Kulaks get fat and do whatever the fuck they

want, let the peasants go

and just, you know, remain

basically kind of abandoned

and stay outside of the centers

of power while they develop

and become proletarianized

and only when they become sufficiently developed can we

high up go down and bring them up to us in so many words that was bucarin's idea the the point of

the nEP was not simply to tolerate and allow markets it was a specific strategy

to contain and handle the peasants and exclude them from the construction of socialism and

soviet democracy right so bucarin and trotsky were exactly the same in terms of their class position.

They just had different strategies of gatekeeping the center and excluding the peasants from socialist construction.

Now, Stalin's, and there's also other issues, Russia did not have an industrial

system at all, right? It had some rudiments of industry in the center. It had some kind of, you know,

development that was in proximity

to the urban center.

It had institutions of state dictatorship.

But there was no national industrial system.

The economy had not been integrated

into one totality, right?

And so there was this acute separation between the center of rule and the reality of the

majority of the country.

And Bucharan's idea is that that's okay.

We effectively need to have an alliance with Kulak landlords, basically,

and that's the alliance of workers and peasants.

They'll figure their thing out.

We'll hunker down, figure our thing out here.

And we'll come to some kind of understanding.

And out of, you know, we will jointly, we will, effectively, what did that amount to, though?

We're going to negotiate our economic sovereignty.

We're going to negotiate with these Kulak landlords the process of how we're going to create some kind of national industrial system and industrialization.

But we're going to cede the economic sovereignty to these Kulak themselves, they were gatekeepers in the

countryside. And, you know, we'll just have to negotiate with them, right? And in this way,

you know, basically, you will have to pass through these like feudal lords, would be feudal lords to industrialize the economy and the country.

That's effectively a form of political power, okay?

So Bukharin did not believe in this sovereignty of the proletarian

dictatorship. Trotsky, on the other hand, claimed to believe in the sovereignty of the proletarian

dictatorship, but he wanted to declare war on the peasants. He wanted to go to the countryside

with the army and just fucking keep

them at bay as like, you know, uh, animals basically, right? Full Netanyahu. So Stalin's,

Stalin was the golden path. Stalin said, we will jointly build socialism with the peasants.

We're not just going to impose our urban conceits on the peasants, but what we're going to do is encourage an already existing phenomena that exists among the russian

peasants which is the cooperative movement cooperative movement emerged in the earliest days of

the russian revolution and and throughout the entire period of the 20s it was there

Stalin said we've already identified this thing

going on among the peasants called the Cooperative

Movement, and that will be how we

negotiate the terms and

conditions of building socialism

with the peasant masses. And what we're

going to do is we're going to bring the Russian

peasantry into the fold of constructing both socialism and Soviet democracy, allowing them to actually participate in it, and on terms that recognizes the actual, like, spontaneous collective formations and patterns

they were already engaged in

which were pursuant to that and which were

conducive to it, which was the peasant cooperative movement

or you know, would become the Kolkosis.

And the idea of Stalin,

this is what created the great purges and this, like, all the old Bolsheviks got killed, not only are we going to do that, once we initiate this process, we're going to build Soviet democracy comprehensively, because now we're all participating in this process of socialist

construction in one country, and we're going to promote the peasants as a fresh source

to replenish the bureaucracy. We're going to empty out these gatekeepers in the center,

and we're going to create more social mobility and opportunity for these peasants to be educated in socialist institutions, to bring their own peasant national character to our existing institutions, and allow it to be characterized by that.

And it's like sociologically, there were so many different manifestations of this.

Lysenko was one of them.

The conflict between Lysenko and the Russian scientific establishment was literally the sociological phenomena of barefoot peasants coming straight from the countryside as country bumpkins, bypassing all of these gate-kept, extremely arrogant Western-aligned institutions

that burrowed themselves in the core

and bringing with them their own

peculiar, like Russian national

peasant knowledge, right?

And that was very hideous and grotesque

to the glasses wears because Lysenko was injecting the institutions of knowledge with the wisdom of the popular majority, more or less, right?

And now, China, you see the same thing with Chinese alternative medicine, by the way.

That's another example of that.

But in any case, that's the story of what happened with Stalin.

That's why Stalin was a champion of the peasants, champion of the people, because he wanted to bring them into the process of building socialism and take that gambit trotsky was squealing and screaming saying no you're gonna ruin it they're a bunch of backward bigots they're all transphobicukharin was, you know, this cynical piece of shit who was like, no, we need to let them get raped and exploited by Kulox for 500 years before we could even consider them sapient enough to be recruited into the process of proletarian dictatorship.

And Stalin said, no, we don't know it all here in the center. We need to combine our knowledge,

combine our conceits, combine our pretenses with the democratic reality of the peasant majority in Russia.

And that's why these gatekeepers were constantly trying to kill Stalin throughout the entire 1930s.

That's why they were constantly coming at him.

That's why there was so much furious hatred and resentment

towards Stalin from within the

Bolshevik Party and from within the

centers. They hated and resented

him because Stalin's message was

effectively, you're going to

have to share power with these people

you consider inferior.

Stalin was telling these people, shout what's up, he was saying, you know, these peasants you consider backward and inferior, you're going to have to share power with them.

You're going to have to humble yourself and let these people into the party, let them into the institutions of socialist construction, and you're going to humble yourself and listen to them and hear them out, and they're going to participate in constructing our socialism.

Trotsky was going,

No, we have to go to Western Europe, where the enlightened people are.

These subhuman Asiatic peasants, they're not good enough for building.

Like that was Trotsky's entire

his rage and his hatred towards

Stalin. Was literally, he was like

to create a national industrial system

okay, we the people's commune, let's say, for purposes of, because Mao decentralized that system himself with the people's communes.

We the people's commune own this factory or this

farm this cooperative farm and this factory and it's owned in common and it's planned in common

okay and we need these quotas now Now, here's the thing.

Every farm and factory had a manager.

Every single one had a manager, okay?

And...

Um... um every single one had a manager and um at least to some extent there's a degree of discretion

in terms of the management even at the lowest levels there's a discreet of discretion okay so when you're

managing when you're managing these socialist institutions, the manager has a degree of discretion where the state doesn't actually care

how you're doing it,

how you're catching the mice,

they just care about the output

or the people's commune.

And then you could even go a layer before.

Let's say, okay, there's a standardization

of managerial practices.

Okay, what if you're a fucking worker

at a factory and you just

have a hammer and you're just kind of smashing

a nail on something, right? And that's your job.

autonomy with respect
