And I've been thinking and I've been, you know, I've been rocking back and forth, just considering the harm of my words and all these people who might already be struggling with mental issues and how Reddit is a safe haven for many people.

And I was just kind of thinking to myself about, you know, the impact of the words that I said, that if you're a Redditor, you should kill yourself.

And the more that I thought about it, the more that I just sat down and started thinking about these things and considering how it might harm people and potentially hurt them in their feelings in some kind of way.

I'm left with only one conclusion, and I wanted to open up the stream talking about it.

I wanted an opportunity to kind of just come clean about being able to talk about what I said.

And my sincere and honest reflection of the words that I said, that if you're a Redditor, you should kill yourself, is that you really should.

You really should, though.

You really should.

I thought about it a lot.

It's not like I didn't think about it.

Oh, it was the heat of the moment.

But I did think about it.

And I was like, well, you're kind of a net negative on humanity, to be honest.

And you just, you know.

If this is the path you insist on going on, then the path should end with a bang.

And I just probably will lead with those things by talking directly about Cuba.

Now, if you don't know the news.

Cuba is undergoing a reform and opening up, supposedly.

I don't know I don't know why people are comparing this to China.

The conditions of China's war uh war you know, uh reform and opening up were very different.

But I want to talk about something that I do think the people who make this meme should kill themselves in a video game or in real life.

The memes that I see, even it's just a joke, even as a joke, even just as a meme, even if people are not serious, even if they're just saying it to be a little, you know, to play with their academic knowledge that they learn in school or something, they're vague familiar, even to flex, oh, I'm into these niche things.

I fucking hate the people who think there's some kind of relationship between Deng Xiaoping and Bukharin.

I am really fucking triggered by the association of China's reform and opening up and of dengism with Bukharin.

Triggers the fuck out of me.

Every time I see it, I get so fucking angry and I want to crash out every single fucking time.

And to teach you some of the rudiments of history, because a lot of people aren't familiar with that.

In the USSR, Bukharin was he's vaguely remembered as the guy who wanted markets in Russia, so people just close the book on the fact that this is a guy who was open to a market economy in the context of the USSR or Russia, and therefore the China is fulfilling Bukharin's theory as opposed to Stalin's.

And the thing that makes me disgusted by this is that these people don't understand the difference between politics and economics.

They don't understand that what was at stake in the USSR wasn't about whether markets should be permitted to exist, but the political implications of that.

Okay.

So in the USSR in the 20s, in the early period, you had an issue where a very strong centralized Soviet state with socialist and Soviet institutions consolidated in the centers, you know, in the urban centers and in the urban core.

That was the site of the state dictatorship.

Okay.

And that was the place where the actual Soviet power was functionally making decisions and ruling over the country.

Now, the peasants were still on the periphery.

They were mainly outside of this strong centralized proletarian dictatorship, so to speak, right?

Which, by the way, was pretty bereft of proletarians because most of them had died during the Civil War, right?

A lot of people don't know that.

So

Please, let's not talk about the NEP.

I'm you're triggering the fuck out of me.

Like, no, Cuba's not undergoing the NEP.

This is, you can't fucking compare these completely different scenarios.

This is exactly what I'm fucking talking about.

It is so fucking lazy.

It is so devoid of any curiosity.

It's just so like, I don't know, it vaguely looks similar, it's just the same thing.

I'm trying to fucking explain to you why it's not.

Anyone have fucking patience.

Holy fuck, okay?

Now, what was going on was that the peasant economy basically still had patterns and habits that were a combination of older agrarian practices that immediately followed the abolition of serfdom, as well as the Stolypin reforms.

So there was a peasant civil society, so to speak, where there were no institutions whatsoever, except the ones that were created under the Tsar, that had become immersed into civil society.

And there was a massive disconnection between the central Soviet power and what was going on in the countryside, right?

Peasants did not participate in the state dictatorship in any kind of way.

They didn't participate in the process of socialist construction.

All of that was happening directly at the site of state power.

Moscow, you know, Leningrad, the exact capitals from which Soviet rule was being projected outward, right?

So there were political implications of the right deviation and the left deviation.

And what they had in common was that they wanted to exclude the peasants from the process of socialist construction and proletarian dictatorship.

Why?

Because they regarded the peasants as too backward.

Okay, so Trotsky's line is very well known.

If you don't know what it is, Trotsky basically thought Bolsheviks had to hunker down in these urbanoid citadels of power and control where all the industry was, where all the urban techniques and specialists were.

And there were some proletarians, I guess, that remained after the Civil War.

Trotsky would, you know, over-inflate that, and that they need to exercise this really, you know, strict dictatorship over these barbaric peasants surrounding the center who could not be trusted in any kind of way, who were inherently regarded as reactionary, backward, and capable of dragging the USSR and Russia back into the pre-revolutionary period, right?

So, Trotsky wanted this urbanoid Benjamin Netanyahu-style dictatorship over like the 90% Russian peasant majority.

It's like he wanted to turn the urban centers into Israel, and he wanted to turn the majority of Russians into Palestinians.

Hate to be anti-Semitic, but these are the facts.

Now, Bukharin was the same thing, but he just had a different strategy to handle.

What he accepted was the same issue.

Bukharin said, We're gonna stay here in our hunkered-down, isolated urban centers with our socialist institutions, with our old Bolsheviks, with our glasses-wearing gatekeepers.

And over there, we're going to compromise with the peasants by letting the Kulaks get fat and do whatever the fuck they want.

Let the peasants go and just, you know, remain basically kind of abandoned and stay outside of the centers of power while they develop and become proletarianized.

And only when they become sufficiently developed can we high up go down and bring them up to us.

In so many words, that was Bukharin's idea.

The point of the NEP was not simply to tolerate and allow markets, it was a specific strategy to contain and handle the peasants and exclude them from the construction of socialism and Soviet democracy, right?

So, Bukharin and Trotsky were exactly the same in terms of their class position.

They just had different strategies of gatekeeping the center and excluding the peasants from socialist construction.

Now, Stalin's, and there's also other issues.

Russia did not have an industrial system at all, right?

It had some rudiments of industry in the center, it had some kind of development that was in proximity to the urban center, it had institutions of state dictatorship.

But there was no national industrial system.

The economy had not been integrated into one totality, right?

And so there is this acute separation between the center of rule and the reality of the majority of the country.

And Bukharin's idea is that that's okay.

We effectively need to have an alliance with kulak landlords, basically.

And that's the Alliance of Workers and Peasants.

They'll figure their thing out.

We'll hunker down, figure our thing out here, and we'll come to some kind of understanding.

And out of, you know, we will jointly, we will effectively, what did that amount to, though?

We're going to negotiate our economic sovereignty.

We're going to negotiate with these Kulak landlords the process of how we're going to create some kind of national industrial system and industrialization.

But we're going to cede the economic sovereignty to these Kulak themselves, they were gatekeepers in the countryside.

And we'll just have to negotiate with them, right?

And in this way, you know, uh basically

You will have to pass through these like feudal lords, would-be feudal lords, to industrialize the economy and the country.

That's effectively a form of political power.

Okay, so Bukharin did not believe in the sovereignty of the proletarian dictatorship.

Trotsky, on the other hand, claimed to believe in the sovereignty of the proletarian dictatorship, but he wanted to declare war on the peasants.

He wanted to go to the countryside with the army and just fucking keep them at bay as like, you know, animals, basically, right?

Full netanyahu.

So Stalin was the golden path.

Stalin said, We will jointly build socialism with the peasants.

We're not just going to impose our urban conceits on the peasants, but what we're going to do is encourage an already existing phenomena that exists among the Russian peasants, which is the cooperative movement.

Cooperative movement emerged in the earliest days of the Russian Revolution and throughout the entire period of the 20s, it was there.

Stalin said, We've already identified this thing going on among the peasants called the cooperative movement.

And that will be how we negotiate the terms and conditions of building socialism with the peasant masses.

And what we're going to do is we're going to bring the Russian peasantry into the fold of constructing both socialism and Soviet democracy, allowing them to actually participate in it and on terms that recognizes the actual like spontaneous collective formations and patterns they were already engaged in, which were pursuant to that and which were conducive to it, which was the peasant cooperative movement, or you know, would become the Kolkhozas.

And the idea of Stalin, this is what created the great purges, and this is why all the old Bolsheviks got killed.

Not only are we going to do that, once we initiate this process, we're going to build Soviet democracy comprehensively because now we're all participating in this process of socialist construction in one country.

And we're going to promote the peasants as a fresh source to replenish the bureaucracy.

We're going to empty out these gatekeepers in the center and we're going to create more social mobility and opportunity for these peasants to be educated in socialist institutions, to bring their own peasant national character to our existing institutions and allow it to be characterized by that.

And it's like sociologically, there were so many different manifestations of this.

Lysenko was one of them.

The conflict between Lysenko and the Russian scientific establishment was literally the sociological phenomena of barefoot peasants coming straight from the countryside as country bumpkins, bypassing all of these gate-kept, extremely arrogant, Western-aligned institutions that burrowed themselves in the core, and bringing with them their own peculiar, like Russian national peasant knowledge, right?

And that was very hideous and grotesque to the glasses wearers because Lysenko was injecting the institutions of knowledge with the wisdom of the popular majority, more or less, right?

And now China, you see the same thing with Chinese alternative medicine, by the way.

It's another example of that.

But in any case, that's the story of what happened with Stalin.

That's why Stalin was a champion of the peasants, champion of the people, because he wanted to bring them into the process of building socialism and take that gambit.

Trotsky was squealing and screaming, saying, no, you're going to ruin it.

They're a bunch of backward bigots.

They're all transphobic.

And then Bukharin was, you know, this cynical piece of shit who was like, no, we need to let them get raped and exploited by kulaks for 500 years before we could even consider them sapient enough to be recruited into the process of proletarian dictatorship.

And Stalin said, no, we don't know it all here in the center.

We need to combine our knowledge, combine our conceits, combine our pretenses with the democratic reality of the peasant majority in Russia.

And that's why these gatekeepers were constantly trying to kill Stalin throughout the entire 1930s.

That's why they were constantly coming at him.

That's why there was so much furious hatred and resentment towards Stalin from within the Bolshevik party and from within the centers.

They hated and resented him because Stalin's message was effectively, you're going to have to share power with these people you consider inferior.

Stalin was telling these people, shout out what's up.

He was saying, you know, these peasants you consider backward and inferior, you're going to have to share power with them.

You're going to have to humble yourself and let these people into the party, let them into the institutions of socialist construction, and you're going to humble yourself and listen to them and hear them out.

And they're going to participate in constructing our socialism.

Trotsky was going, no, we have to go to Western Europe where the enlightened people are.

These subhuman Asiatic peasants, they're not good enough for building.

Like that was Trotsky's entire, his rage and his hatred towards Stalin was literally, he was like, no, they're stupid.

They're hogs.

They're a bunch of transphobes.

We hate them.

He wanted to go to Europe where all the enlightened people were.

And he fucking hated.

He detested the peasants.

He saw them as, it's the same way Liptards see American rednecks or something, right?

It's like the coastal Marxists, the DSA types and how they see the the masses in the interior of the nation, of our nation, right?

It's the same thing, same exact dynamic.

And so that was the whole conflict going on within the Soviet Union between Stalin and Trotsky and Bukharin, right?

We're going to be humble enough to acknowledge we don't know it all and that there is wisdom that exists among the people that we need to humble ourselves to.

Like, we have to understand that they are good enough, peasants are good enough to build socialism in this country.

Uh, that's basically what was happening, okay, in the USSR with the controversy and the conflict with the rest.

Bukharin's reform, sorry, sorry, sorry, Deng Xiaoping's reforms presuppose the national industrial system created by Mao.

Took for granted the national infrastructure, the socialization of labor, the integration of the entire nation into one system, more or less, that Mao created.

So, what Deng Xiaoping did is very, very different.

He allowed China, the system created under Mao, he allowed that to tap into the world market.

And I actually want to call out people who claim that what Deng Xiaoping did contradicts socialism, that China could not possibly be socialist.

I want to run a thought experiment for all the people that deny China as a socialist country.

And I want to actually have a pulse on where we're at when it comes to basic knowledge, you know, basic knowledge 101 on this topic, more or less, right?

So um

If you're ready.

If you're ready.

Right.

Um

Now, in a traditional Soviet style, crude form of socialist planning, which is an immature version of socialism, by the way, the first version of socialism, where you have to create a national industrial system and get it off the ground.

You kind of have a direct managerial dictatorship and a form of planning that says, Okay, we, the people's commune, let's say, for purposes of because Mao decentralized that system himself with the people's communes.

So, let's just talk about it at the commune level.

We, the people's commune, own this factory or this farm, this cooperative farm and this factory, and it's owned in common and it's planned in common, okay?

And we need these quotas.

Now, here's the thing.

Every farm and factory had a manager.

Every single one had a manager, okay?

And

Um

Every single one had a manager, and um at least to some extent, there's a degree of discretion in terms of the management, even at the lowest levels.

There's a discree of discretion, okay?

So when you're managing

When you're managing these um

these socialist uh institutions the manager has a degree of discretion where the state doesn't actually care how you're doing it how you're catching the mice they just care about the output or the people's commune and then you could even go a layer before let's say okay there's a standardization of manag managerial practices okay what if you're a worker at a factory and you just have a hammer and you're just kind of smashing a nail on something right and that's your job Edues, what's up?

Now, this is the most extreme example of the thing that I want to talk about here, right?

You're a worker, you have a hammer, you're smashing something on a nail.

Okay, now...

The exact um like muscular skeletal movement of how you're smashing the mail, the technique you're doing, the pace at which you do it, um, you know, how you do it more or less, there's a degree of individual discretion there where the manager is basically like, I don't give a fuck how you do it, you just need to fucking get it done to fulfill this quota, whatever, right?

And by the way, this doesn't presuppose a top-down model of management, but it does presuppose that there's a degree, at least to some extent, in which socialist planners do not actually care about how something is produced.

They just care about where the output is allocated or what kind of output is being created, what quantity of it, right?

So that's the important thing you have to keep in mind.

Now

Um why tell me why in principle it is impossible to logically extend that to Deng Xiaoping's household responsibility system.

We don't care how you achieve the goal, we are the ones setting the goal, but just ensure that the goal can be fulfilled.

Like, why fundamentally is it c incompatible with socialism to take it to another step of you know, uh managerial and entrepreneurial autonomy with respect to the fulfillment of the same goal?

You see, you can't, where do you draw the line?

You know, if we're going to employ a household responsibility system, if we're going to fundamentally decentralize how people are putting enterprises together, how they're actually fulfilling the goals of the center, more or less, why does that negate socialism when already, on some basis, right?

There's a degree of experimental autonomy and discretion with respect to the production of outputs and goals that are set and created by the state.

So, this is why saying that markets are incompatible with socialism is retarded, okay?

Because there's always going to be an extent to which central planners do not actually care about how the plan is fulfilled.

And increasing that extent doesn't negate socialism, it actually opens up

The pathways and possibilities for the fulfillment of the plan

To a greater extent, there's more ways to fulfill the same thing than one way.

And if there's more ways to do it, you're eventually embarking on a process of discovery to find the best way, right?

So, this is why, in principle, we need to always be sharp on the basic point that no, this doesn't negate socialism.

This is not a negation of socialism, right?

Um

Because you could never draw a line to begin with.

Now, I want to talk about Cuba in particular here.

I'm pretty disgusted at Western leftists who are like, I'm so devastated that Cuba is doing these reforms.

Why are you more devastated by your expectations and ideals being disappointed than you are by the fucking hideous poverty and suffering that the Cuban people have had to endure because of your own regime's pressure?

And because you decide to prioritize transgender furries over building a mass movement because it's non-negotiable that you would ever embark on the process of winning an alternative base to socialism that is not just the base of the Democratic Party and is not just a base that is going to obey the terms and conditions of your political correctness because you're so specific and picky about who you regard as the masses and who you actually want to work with because you regard the ACP and others as fascists and stuff.

I'll even say that.

It's like...

Well, you you are unable to challenge your regime in any kind of way.

Oh, you're principled and you're so moral, but you can't even challenge your regime to alleviate the suffering of the Cuban people.

And so, first of all, the fact that they don't have their priorities in order and they're more outraged by one thing over another is already pretty fucking hideously disgusting just by itself, right?

But what's especially like grotesque and disgusting to me is um.

Is the fact that like, you know

They somehow understand that these reforms will alleviate suffering for the Cuban people, and yet they still consider their disappointment at the ideals, you know, more important, right?

It's the first thing.

The second thing is it's not actually going to be a bad thing if Cuba embraces, you know, some kind of market-oriented socialist economics.

Either I think it would be more like Vietnam than it would be like China, because institutionally, Cuba is more like Vietnam than it is like China.

And the expectation that this is Deng Xiaoping's reform and opening up, no, there's a lot of differences between the Vietnamese and Chinese system.

China's system has always been more systemic and systematic and integral, right?

Because of the Mao era.

Also, Cuba and Vietnam never had cultural revolutions.

But in any case, if Cuba can maintain political sovereignty, if it can ensure that its reform and its own opening up of its economy isn't going to somehow erode Cuba's geopolitical sovereignty.

And the ability to make choices independently of the US and so on and so on.

This will be great for Cuba.

If Cuba does this the right way, if they don't allow it to affect the most fundamental institutions of socialist dictatorship, just like in China, the state still owns the fundamentals of the economy, plus all the land.

And it's like if Cuba can maintain that, like Vietnam or like China, maintain the Communist Party rule, not allow these reforms to

Overthrow the dictatorship and the regime, Cuba will benefit immensely from this.

If they could somehow now tap into the world market and inject all this capital and wealth into the economy and build up productive forces, this will help Cuba.

Cuba's in a tough spot because of how close it is to the U.S.

geographically, though, for sure.

And then, second of all, it's like we have to observe very closely.

Cuba can either have a Vietnam-China moment or it can have a Gorbachev moment.

A Gorbachev moment would mean that its economic reforms are going to correspond to a political reform.

That would be fucking disastrous.

A loosening of power by the regime would fucking destroy Cuba if they combine these reforms with political democratic reforms.

That's when you know it's over for Cuba.

So, Cuba's market reforms should not disappoint anyone.

The only thing you should be worried about is if they go down the Gorbachev path and this becomes like the USSR, if they don't maintain their firm grip on politics and political dictatorship, right?

So, that's really my ultimate take on Cuba.
